Definition of RTA 744

An anthracycline derivative with potential antitumor activity. RTA 744 intercalates into DNA and interrupts topoisomerase II activity, thereby inhibiting dna replication and repair, as well as RNA and protein synthesis. Unlike other anthracycline derivatives, RTA 744 crosses the blood-brain barrier and reaches therapeutic levels in the brain.
