Definition of CD2 Antigen

An antigen that functions as a co-receptor or accessory molecule in the T-cell receptor complex, which is involved in helper and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte adhesion and activation. The molecule is expressed on the cell surface of the majority of peripheral T-lymphocytes, NK cells, and thymocytes.
