Oct. 5, 2009: A new report in the journal Pediatrics suggests that the rate of Autism Spectrum Disorders in the U.S. is 1 in 100 children, comparable to rates seen in Japan and the U.K. The rate for boys is 1 in 58. The cause of the jump is unkown, and surprising is the finding that 40% of respondents said their child was initially diagnosed with ASD but is no longer symptomatic.
